Tamil Maldonado Vega



Tamil Maldonado Vega nació en Mariana, Humacao, Puerto Rico. En su crecimiento, Tamil siempre estuvo involucrada en grupos artísticos y servicio comunitario. A lo largo de este compromiso, adquirió habilidades diferentes, pero lo más importante, aprendió a apreciar la música, las artes, la cultura, la gente y la vida. Ella ha participado en grupos musicales, culturales y en movimientos que han promovido la apreciación de las artes, culturas, la naturaleza, la humanidad y justicia social. Su pasión por tener un impacto positivo en otros la llevaría a continuar su servicio en la comunidad hasta hoy día, en y fuera de Puerto Rico.
 
Tamil es fundadora y directora de Barrio E’ con el propósito de difundir y educar sobre la música latinoamericana y caribeña tradicional en Colorado. También fue fundadora y directora ejecutiva del primer Centro Multicultural Comunitario del estado de Colorado promoviendo educación de culturas, apoyo para artistas y fomento de participación comunitaria.
 
Afiliaciones presentes y pasadas: Miembro de consejo de Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC), miembro de la Junta Directiva de Boulder County Arts Alliance, Asesora YWCA-Boulder - "Latinas Achievement Support", Escritora de Becas de Diversidad, miembro de NALAC, comisionada de Artes de la Ciudad de Boulder.
 
Fue premiada en Artes en el 2014 Boulder County Multicultural Awards, ganadora del Excelente Award de la Camara de Comercio Latina de Boulder County como líder comunitario del 2016 y premio de Impacto a la Comunidad 2017 de la Cámara de Comercio de la Ciudad de Boulder.
Productora del Colorado Latino Festival y World Drum Jam desde el 2016. Vicepresidenta de Desarrollo de Programas y Servicios en Raíces Brewing Company.

Tamil Maldonado Vega was born in Mariana, Humacao, Puerto Rico. Growing up, Tamil was always involved in arts groups and community service. Throughout this involvement she acquired different skills, but most important, she learned to appreciate music, arts, culture, people and life. She has become involved in musical, cultural groups and movements that promote appreciation of arts, culture, nature, humanity and social justice. Her passion for having a positive impact in others would drive her to continue her community service to this day in and outside of Puerto Rico.​
 
Tamil is founder and director of Barrio E’ (Community is) with the purpose to disseminate and educate about Latin America and Caribbean traditional music in Colorado.​ She was also founder and executive director of the first Multicultural Community Center in Colorado fostering education of all cultures, support for artists and encouragement of civic engagement.
 
Current and past affiliations: Advisory Council Member of the Latino Cultural and Arts Center, Board member of Boulder County Arts Alliance, Consultant YWCA-Boulder Latina Achievement Support, Diversity Grants Writer, NALAC member, Boulder Arts Commissioner City of Boulder.
 
Awarded with the 2014 Boulder County Multicultural Awards in the Arts, the Excelente Awards of the Boulder County Latino Chamber of Commerce as the community leader of the year 2016 and 2017 Community Impact Award of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.
Producer of the Colorado Latino Festival y World Drum Jam since 2016. Current VP of Development of Programming and Front of House of Raíces Brewing Company.
